Entrants
The rally is open to any non fossil fuel vehicle. To date, entrants include:
Solar
Electric
Hybrid
Biofuel
Given the wide variety of vehicles taking part, different regulations are being formulated for each class.
The solar class will be run along similar lines to those of the World Solar Challenge, except for the need to end up in the same camp as all the other participants each night.
The Biofuels and other vehicles which have the potential to go off road, will follow a different route to those which are restricted to the tar and gravel roads, but will still end up in the same camp every night as the other participants.
Contact the organisers for specific regulations for your vehicle.

Registration
The entrance fee for all classes is Euro1500. This covers the cost of registering the vehicle and two team members, with access to all rally events at the start in Livingstone, at the half way stage in Windhoek, and at the end in Cape Town.
Additional team members can be registered for Euro 150 each which gives access to all rally events.
In addition, there will be a daily charge to cover the cost of accommodation and meals en route.
The Mahindra Class.
Within the rally there will be a class made up exclusively of one type of vehicle. These are the biodiesel Mahindra Scorpio SUVs.
Zero Rally Africa are offering teams of two people a chance to drive in one of these vehicles.
They will be provided with a biodiesel Scorpio for the rally, entry into the rally, the biofuel, and accommodation at the 11 overnight stops en route.
Each of these special teams will be accompanied by a celebrity or journalist.
Zero Rally Africa are working in partnership with Mahindra to provide this unique opportunity. The Scorpios are being entered into Zero Rally Africa to demonstrate Mahindra's recognition of the need to develop environmentally friendly vehicles. The Scorpio, a world-class sports utility vehicle, is already available in petrol and standard diesel versions and sold in Europe and South Africa. It is soon to enter the US market.
